Many doctors and specialists consider exercise as an important and effective treatment for chronic fatigue syndrome. People with chronic fatigue syndrome are trapped in a downward spiral. They suffer from extreme exhaustion and muscle pains, thus the need to have as much rest as possible. However, having too much rest leads to a sedentary lifestyle which has several detrimental effects to the body. Decreased physical activity leads to muscle wasting and loss of bone mass. But regular exercise can help stop that downward trend and replace it with more positive cycle.
Exercise has a number of benefits. Starting a regular exercise routine leads to increased performance and strengthened muscles. This, in turn results to a more optimistic outlook. Research has also revealed that exercise helps combat anxiety and depression. This may be the result of a combination of the release of endorphins (the body’s natural pain killers) and the sense of fulfillment at being able to improve the body’s functions. Exercise also helps strengthen the cardiovascular system.

Writing has always been a type of ‘therapy’ in that it allows us to put into words our deepest secrets and feelings – things that we might be afraid or unwilling to share with anyone. People are often encouraged to keep diaries of their innermost thoughts as a way of removing the burden of problems from our every waking moment.

I have been suffering with depression and anxiety for a long time and been on medication but it hasn’t relieved all the symptoms, I have been in and out of counselling and am still very tense and stressed, I sleep in the fetal position and get a lot of tension and pain in my back and neck; I have a very short temper still. I have a lot of problem with energy and relaxation as well as self control and connecting with my body. I took an online chakra test and found all but one of my chakras are under-active. I used to be bullied but i cant remember what happened so i must have repressed it. I need to get on with my life and scientific medicine hasn’t helped I think my spirit needs healing.
Which therapy should I try?

Depression is one of the leading disorders in America today and is the reason our media is permeated with advertisements for one anti-depressant or another. Its difficult, if not impossible, to get through a single evening of television without seeing babies crying and Mommys who are too down to move or little cartoon stick figures selling Americans yet another medication for depression. Is that and psychotherapy the only treatment for depression? No. Recently, studies have connected the health benefits of acupuncture with depression.
