The idea of energy balance has its basis in medical systems that have been utilized in the Far East for thousands of years. All of these systems assume that there is a subtle nonphysical energy that permeates and circulates throughout the body.

Traditional Chinese medicine calls this “chi”.  The terms that best describe this energy in English would be “life force” or “vital energy”. The difference in energy that you feel when you have the flu versus when you are healthy is an example of fluctuations in this type of energy.

Have A Holistic Shiatsu Massage

It seems that whatever ease and calm efforts we try to make our lives less stressful, it turns out we can’t control what’s going on around us. And this, as it always had done, makes us more tiring and exhausted by the end of the day. You may not know it, but perhaps the extreme stress and tiredness may be due to something else. The best retreat, a soothing massage to comfort the aching and tired mind and body.

A good alternative for relaxation is the Shiatsu massage. Shiatsu massage is holistic, focusing on the whole person, both mind and body. Unlike western medicine, which treats symptoms, Shiatsu seeks to discover and treat the source of the imbalance. Consequently, Shiatsu may be used both to treat and prevent disease. During a session, one might also receive various suggestions that are intended to assist the healing process. These suggestions may include dietary, life habits, thought/perception and lifestyle changes. Shiatsu is also a great alternative for people interested in the benefits of acupuncture but are needle shy. ”If I’d known I was going to live this long. I’d have taken better care of myself” — Eubie Blake at the age of 100

Such a work driven society we live in today, it’s very easy to be led into a monotonous routine. Bed to desk, desk to dinner table then back to bed! The few luxuries that we afford ourselves are the few minutes of conversation during breaks, the cigarette and the occasional outing. Rarely do any of these contribute constructively to our ever degenerating bodies. Even athletic individuals concentrate more on the wear and tear (jogging, exercising), relying on the regenerative functions of the body to reign supreme. That just might work for us till a certain age, but what then?

Incremental bulge of the belly, stiffness of both body and mind, pressure on joints and the ever imposing ”age-factor” make us all the more prone to physical and (the correlated or otherwise) mental stress vis-a-vis back pains, headaches, anxiety, depression, blood pressure, insomnia, injuries, reduced blood flow to the muscles (including cavernous dysfunction), PMS pains and what not! Blue collar or white collar, athletes or stay at home parents; we all are dependent on our bodies to keep us in action. Society has come to that junction where primary medical facilities are just not keeping pace anymore! Where do we turn to then?
