How can I help my friend who is suffering from Anxiety?
I have a very close friend, she has been suffering from this for the last year and its been getting progressively worse!! The symptoms she suffers from most is muscle aches that seem to shift everywhere.
She has been to treatments like acupuncture, cognitive behavioral techniques, hypnotherapy and yoga, but none of it seems to be taking effect…. she is on anti depressants, but that also makes her feel bad just thinking about it.
I’m doing my best for her, always being there for her when she needs me, picking her up when she’s down, and never letting her down. We’ve been on holidays together so I could try to pull her out of this!! Take her away from all this…. I can’t find the answers to help her get out of this!! And its killing me to see her like this…
Has anyone been there, or seen someone close suffer like this?? What did you do to help them??

I don’t have a resolution to your problem, but I just wanted to say that you are an incredible friend. Friends like you are rare.
My suggestion is make her believe she can do this on her own, having to take medicine depresses a lot of people, slowing getting off of it and realizing that she can stay the same or get better off of it can really brighten people up. Exercise, eating right, fun activities, helps as well.
That is the point where you start slapping her around and snap oout of it, that’s what my friends did to me when i started acting like a wuss cuz of wha wha panic attacks……..COWGIRL UP SISTER!!!!
I suffer from this myself. Had to find a doctor to give me Xanax for anxiety attacks so I’d suggest finding a better psychiatrist.. I get them from a friend now because I lost my insurance. Its the only way I can really deal with it. I’m sure I’ll get thumbs down for self medicating and saying this, but I’m just being honest.
I used to always feel better after going in therapy and talking it through. Maybe you could suggest seeing a mental health professional if she is open to that; an actual therapist rather than some MD who thinks prozac is a cure-all for any mental problem. Some people also find comfort turning to religion.
