Chinese herbal medicines and acupuncture for Anxiety? do they work?
I have severe daily anxiety, they will provide herbs and acupuncture for a large amount of money. I’ve had anxiety for 4 years now.
I do not want to take medication, it is too self-harming, and not natural.i’d rather take something natural to cure my anxiety.
Is it worth it to give it a try? I am tired of being anxious everyday, I cant relax for a second, not even when I sleep.
also, is acupuncture hurtful?
If youve tried herbs or acupuncture has it worked for you?
thank you!

There are Traditional Chinese Medicine treatments for some mild to moderate forms of anxiety.
Acupuncture treatment specifically is relatively painless. Most of the time any discomfort that would occur happens during the insertion and quickly fades. Often times my patients are not even aware of the needles; they instead feel the guide tube I use during the needle insertion.
If you feel the treatments are cost prohibitive, then you may want to look at counseling that is covered by your health insurance. This would also be a non-pharmaceutical approach.
ya… but if you need something stronger… try xanax
there is no real evidence to prove that acupuncture does anything. There are many studies, in fact, that show the efficacy of acupuncture is similar to the placebo effect.
The term “natural” you use it too general. just because something is synthetic does not mean it will harm you and just because something is natural doesnt mean it is good for you. Did you know that Aspirin was originally derived from a particular Willow bark?
I have used a Chinese Herbal tea for anxiety and found it very helpful. It is easy to make when you have the two ingredients. They are the fried seeds of Zizyphus Spinosa (10 grams per batch) and licorice root(3 grams per batch). A pound of each will cost about $35 at most and will make fifty batches.
Take the two herbs and boil them in a few cups of water (750ml) for around twenty minutes. Drink the water part and save the herbs to use a second time. Do this two times a day for a few weeks. If it is not effective, increase the amount by doubling the herb weights and repeat.
This is not a solution to a mountain of personal problems, but it did help me get through a very difficult time last year.
Long term use for months could bring a side effect of short term memory loss. If this happens, discontinue use for at least a few weeks.
Lack of sleep will reinforce the anxiety from the fatigue. Sleeping is great therapy for me.
Acupuncture from a good doctor is very easy to go through and is rarely even felt when the needles enter. They are extremely fine, as they are not hollow like the needle of an injection device.
The Acupuncture doctor would offer you a much more tailored prescription to your body needs and would help you address the issues in your body and in your life.
Hey… Victoria here, maybe my personal story can give you some solace…
a lil about me- about a year after my husband left me and my daughter died about 5 years ago.. I was at a very difficult point in my life, and was ultimately diagnosed with depression, severe anxiety, and panic disorder. I would say that i’ve always for the most part been a little depressed and had some degree of anxiety, but this just completely tipped the scale. I remember there were days on end I would just lie in bed, and whenever I would be in a social environment my anxiety would go through the roof and I would often have panic attacks. Therapy never seemed to be effective for me, and my psych put me on damn near every med out there. I’ve been on everything from wellbutrin to paxil, zoloft, prozac, lexapro, celexa, buspar, valium, klonopin, xanax.. etc. Sometimes 2-3 different ones in combo at the same time. Nothing really seemed to work for me. With the exception of some of the benzos (klono./xanax) .. these worked well for a little while, but I grew tolerance quickly, and became highly addicted.
Then one day while researching online i came across this reputable looking website http://www.anxiety.pcti-system.com .. which talked about this program to eliminate your anxiety for good, all naturally. Long story short, I wound up signing up to try it and the program worked amazing.. Not only do I no longer have panic attacks and anxiety gone, but my depression has also seemed to dissipate a little. And I’m currently starting to slowly ween off the meds I’m on. >>>>
I would personally say that possibly the biggest driving factor in all this is OCD. I think obsessing and constantly having your thoughts focused on your own condition and constantly analyzing your own thoughts/actions plays a very significant role in the persistence of our ails. Almost like the condition is a small lit fire, and OCD is the fuel that keeps it consistently burning… Also, I’ve come to the conclusion that meds are generally a unhealthy short term cure that only semi-treats the symptoms, and never the cause. Hope I was of some help!
