concussion AND depersonalization?

Question by disturbed1100: concussion AND depersonalization?
Very long story so i will try to cut it short.
I hit my the back of my head on Oct 4th. did not black out, see stars or anything like that. Had severe lightheaded and nausea on Oct. 6th during this episode im pretty sure i also had a pretty bad anxiety/panic attack, bad enough to where i really thought i was going to die. I did not know what was wrong with me and why i felt that way, and i believe this is where my depersonalization kicked in because since then i had a very strange “disconnected” feeling that i could just not fully explain to anybody. I went to the ER and they took blood did a CT and everything came back telling them i was healthy as a horse and my problems could be explained by lack of sleep. Again to shorten the story I have been to the ER 4 times ( all of which turned out to be anxiety/panic attacks ) had 3 cat scans (with and without contrast), a bunch of blood tests and have seen the chief of neurology, everything has come back normal which i do agree with becuase PHYSICALY there is nothing wrong with me, i can add, divide, talk, run, sleep, recall memories, have no weakness or anything like that, physically i feel good and physically there is nothing that i cant do that i was not able to do before. Only until last week did i find out through my own research it was depersonalization and looking at the symptoms it was exactly what i was feeling. Anyway i was not daignosed with any type of concussion until about Oct. 11th which up until then i was feeling ok and getting better but was still working and lifting heavy objects and working up a sweat everynight at work, pretty much all the stuff you should not do if you have a concussion. On the 12th i had a relapse of symptoms ( wonder why ) and somewhere along the line they said i had a concussion/ Post concussion syndrome. After that i got knocked off my A** and was in bed and it was hard to walk anywhere becuase of the nausea and dizziness ( not to mention the whole time i was still depersonalized ). I am now ALOT better and back to work but on limited hours and physical restriction.

SO the question: I need help/advise with my situation. I am doing everything i can to help my body recover by eating healthy, juicing fruits and vegetables, resting when i feel any symptoms start to come on, massage to help with tension and stress and even acupuncture ( which without it i dont know where i would be, accupuncture is what helped to relieve the nausa and lack of appetite) and i have a thereapy appointment next friday.
SO again the question: I feel like i am in never ending cirlce since a concussion and depersonalization having opposite treatments. When i relax and just kind of “gaze” at somthing it makes my brain feel better but then starts to make the DP worse, while on the other hand if say im at work and im concentrating and trying to multitask and start to get my heartrate going a little bit i almost completly forget about the DP feeling, but after a little while it feels as if my brain wants to jump out of my head and run away. So if i try to work on the DP my concussion symptoms rise and if i try to work on the concussion my DP symptoms rise.

Question by Karen B: Do you feel that a shrink does more harm than good for panic disorder?
Not all, but with my experience its very difficult to even find a good one. Be it a shrink or counselor. Many times I have been in the er sicker from side effects from all the pills. A bad experience for sure. I have had better results with chiropractic and acupuncture. Klonopin helps on bad days. Do you agree? I can get the same thing from my regular doc. To sum it all up, I don’t believe any of them have even had panic disorder or attacks in the first place and a lack of understanding. I have seen this many times, having this for over 20 years. They need to help us by asking US what helps. I am hopeful for safer treatments. And Please stop treating us like a mental case. Its a medical condition. No cure. And we may need benzos for life. Its not drug addiction its for our disorder.
