Acupuncture Depression Archives

I suffer from endometriosis, bursitis, and bulging disk in my lower spine. I am in pain everyday, every night every morning and ever time I get off of work. The pain is putting me into depression because I cant take another day more. If I go to this clinic what will they do for my pain? If someone could tell me in detail I would appreciate it. I mean I know you can get shots there ( which I hope I can turn down cause I fear em) and Chiro or acupuncture which I wouldn’t be able to handle at all.

Many women suffer from depression during and after pregnancy.  For those who suffer from depression while pregnant, it can be difficult to decide whether or not drug therapy is needed.  Certain antidepressants carry with them a risk of birth defects to the fetus.  Now, there might be a new way to treat depression during pregnancy without the use of drugs: acupuncture.

A new study found that more than 60 percent of pregnant women who received acupuncture treatment reported improvement in their symptoms.  Researchers examined 150 participants who were suffering from moderate to severe depression and who had suffered an average of three depressive episodes.  Only one third of the study participants had suffered from depression prior to becoming pregnant; the rest of the participants developed symptoms of depression while pregnant.  About twenty-five percent of the participants had been taking prescription antidepressant drugs before they found out they were pregnant but stopped taking their medication once learning of the pregnancy.

People who are chronic sufferers of anxiety and depression often seek radical ways of permanently addressing their problems whenever everything else fails. Prescription drugs such as anti-anxiety drugs and antidepressants fall short in the long term cure for chronic anxiety problems. They are there only for immediate and short-term relief of anxiety symptoms and nothing more. For many sufferers, chronic symptoms should not be addressed by chronic medications that would render them dependent on prescription drugs all their life. They do not want to contend with managing anxiety problems anymore; they want a total and permanent cure once and for all for their chronic anxiety problems. A lot of them now are looking into alternative ways for anxiety cure and one of these methods is acupuncture.

Acupuncture is the ancient Chinese art of inserting needles to various acupuncture points in the body to facilitate a continuous and natural energy flow that was otherwise blocked in cases of both neurological and physiological disorders. Modern uses of acupuncture include a holistic recuperating therapy to treat certain discomforts, pain management and anxiety and depression treatment.

Treating Depression With Five Element Acupuncture

When it comes to mental illness, people are often reluctant to consult a physician or health professional, yet the treatment of depression as soon as it is diagnosed is crucial if any relief is to be had. One problem is that if the treatment of depression is not administered correctly, then the problem can be made worse. Depression treatment should address all the symptoms that are displayed. Symptoms of depression include suicidal tendencies, long black moods of sadness, and a total lack of self confidence. Depression treatment is most difficult when the patient and the patient’s family are not co-operative.
The treatment of depression must take into account the main cause of depression, which is a chemical imbalance in the brain. Depression treatment usually targets this imbalance and tries to correct it. However, doctors realize that depression treatment can often have side effects as the medication is strong. A study in Canada found that the bones of patients undergoing depression treatment were less dense than others, leading to brittle bones.
Natural foods in the Treatment of Depression
Cardamom and asparagus are two natural foods that are used in depression treatment. Other foods known to be beneficial in the treatment of depression include lemon balm, cashew nut and rose petals. It is also recommended that drinking a lot of water – at least eight glasses a day – and cutting down on (or preferably cutting out) red meats can support the treatment of depression. “Cooling foods,” such as many citrus fruits and most vegetables, are also thought to be useful in the treatment of depression because they bring down acidity levels in the body and so keep the mind calm.
Supplements and Vitamins for the Treatment of Depression
Vitamin B has been shown in trials to be very beneficial in the treatment of depression. It tends to increase serotonin, a hormone known to improve mood, levels in the brain. Omega 3 is also very beneficial in depression treatment as it keeps the spirits high. It must be remembered that certain situations can hinder the effective absorption of vitamins and minerals into the body; for example, vitamin absorption decreases with age. Always consult your physician or health professional for tips on optimizing supplement absorption in the treatment of depression.
Holistic Treatment for Depression
Depression treatment should also include breathing exercises, workouts and relaxation exercises. Deep breathing has proved to be useful, as has meditation. Other alternative treatments include aromatherapy, massages, reflexology and acupuncture. Depression treatment has to take a holistic view so that all the visible symptoms of can be addressed.

Chinese Medicine: A question about Jing?

I would appreaciate an answer to this. I’m trying to understand Jing. I get it but one thing I do not understand.

The Jing is made of both post and pre natal Jing. One given and one acquired. When Jing gets depleted you suffer many health problems. But the thing is, you can always change your habits and improve your Jing. Some people suffering from Depression, bad memory, sexual problems, and others from poor Jing recover and live a healthy life. If Jing is depleted permanately, why do people still improve? Shouldn’t that be blocked?

Correct me if I’m wrong but this is my theory: The pre natal Jing takes a long time of malnurishment to deplete. The post natal Jing protects it. It takes a long time for the pre natal Jing to become permanately weak. The one Jing that truly changes is the post natal Jing. Kind of like a person being born with a certain body and it is affected by how they take care of themselves. A person with bad habbits will start having problems but if they change their health problems will too. Kind of like smoking; It does damage you long-term but it takes a lot of smoking a day every day for many years to truly damage you irreversibly. If you were to change sooner, your lungs will begin recovering. They will keep damage but they will be at their highest potential possible.

Could I be possibly having Absence Seizures?

Ok, so I’ve been in and out of the hospital for several months. I just strictly see my neurologist a couple times a month for acupuncture to ease muscle aches and pains (they hurt bad and sometimes make me cry).

A couple months ago, I had a scare where I kept blacking out… once I almost drove off a rode, down a hill; other times I woke up on the floor, sore. No one has ever witnessed them. I can honestly say I failed school because I couldn’t remember what I learned in class; I don’t remember attending class (even though I know I was at school). I don’t remember the month of April. I constantly ask my
friend and she tells me that it was like I was on auto-pilot. some days emotionless, others I seemed almost like myself..

Root of Cutting = Adrenal Problem?

I have a friend who’s cutting every day, and the sensation apparently calms her down. From what I can tell, she’s cutting because of the physiological response, although she’s been diagnosed with depression and prescribed medicine. I like to keep an open mind and say medication can work, but she hasn’t even had a blood test yet, and the cutting isn’t going to stop. What are potential deficiencies that could be making her cut? What are possible solutions? I’m thinking it could be as simple as a vitamin D deficiency or maybe she just needs acupuncture… Not positive. Help?
