Best Yoga to treat Depression?

I recently got into Traditional Chinese Medicine / Acupuncture and therapy from a Psychologist… now, I’d like to explore Yoga on my road to recovery.

One thing to keep in mind is that I am not flexible at all. I can’t even touch my toes. The furthest I can probably reach is a little past my knees =/

I know there are several types of Yoga, so what would be the best type to treat Depression?

I would be very appreciative for detailed info on your experiences with anything relevant such as meditation, yoga, acupuncture etc.

I have seen therapists and taken medications, they help somewhat but as I said my case is not severe…just an underlying feeling of uneasiness and that “things aren’t quite right.”

My gut feeling is that some sort of meditation etc would help, but I also hear that some types are considered “scams” etc…please help!

are anti-depression meds really bad?

I’ve been going through depression for almost 3 years. I’ve tried teas, st johns wart, acupuncture, therapy…everything. none of it worked.I am now taking Wellbutrin XL generic name Budeprion X. just began taking it…doesn’t work yet.. this is my last hope. I can barely get out of bed, get my school work done, shower or anything.

Do these meds really f*ck up your brain? I don’t want to be unhealthy;

Any other suggestion for overcoming Depression?

If you suffer from depression….I will give you some advice.
First you´ve got to find a GOOD shrink. This way you will be able to discover what makes you really sad. He will also diagnose and prescribe medicines if you need them (Cymbalta and Zyprexa worked for me). Depression is caused by an unbalance in brain neurotrasmiters. The spiritual explanation is that you have a spirit attached to your aura that makes you have feelings of worthlesness. You are not alone. There is millions of people with depression all over the world. Beside therapy and medications there is also other things you can do: acupuncture, yoga, exercise, go to the beach, have a sea salt bath. To clean your place of bad energies: light some candles, turn on some music, light some incense. Other remedies are bach flowers in particular the one called “mustard” and above all THINK POSITIVE. you are able to create your own reality. Thoughts are energy that turn into reality. I am 65 and retired after a lifetime teaching- I have tried many things including acupuncture,cognitive behaviour therapy, diet modification chinese medicine(herbs) supplements such as Korean ginseng- I try to keep my mind active by being involved in things- I help at a school on two half days per week and I teach computers to senior citizens and learn Bridge on another day. This has helped but on the other days I find it more difficult because if I try to read for example, I just fall asleep. I can’t do a lot of gardening because I suffer with a very bad back. I go walking half an hour a day. What i’d like to do is get back to golf. I’m waiting for the cooler weather and back strngthening exercises I’m doing to work. I have prostate cancer and a heart problem but I don’t worry about these – the cancer is not causing any problems at this popint in time.Any ideas to help withthe chronic fatigue.????
I checked out sleep apnoea- but that cause was ruled out.
I am a christian and pray to God every day. This has helped me to keep going when I get rally down. I’m having the problem right now trying to keep focussed on what I’m doing.
