I’m interested in getting acupuncture for depression. Has anyone had success with this? How many treatments did you have? My insurance covers it and I’m very interested in it.

Yes it saved my life. Seriously.
I had never been so depressed in my life after I got off Paxil. I was taking Paxil for anxiety and had no idea it would leave me completely devastated when I stopped it. I was *this close* to considering suicide, and if not for my husband I think I may have done something horrible.
Mine was a deep, dark, black, horrible hole of depression. A heavy, smothering weight pushing down on my shoulders. I would cry all day, then wash my face and try to look “normal” for when my husband got home from work.
Anyway, I remember going to the acupuncturist’s office and I didn’t know if I’d be able to speak because I was so tearful.
After a 30 minute session, I walked out of there feeling like a HUGE weight was off my shoulders. I actually smiled and laughed for the first time in ages.
I ended up having about 11 sessions lasting about 30 minutes (twice a week). That was in 2006. I have had some setbacks and some sadness over certain life events, but I have never felt as horrible as I did prior to the acupuncture. It really did save my life.
My acupuncturist also recommended some lifestyle changes that supported the treatment- it’s a whole mind/body thing. I am forever grateful to her. I can look back now and thank God I found her….
Funny how I found her. I was sitting with the phone book on my lap and was super-upset. I said “If I don’t find a way to get over this, I’m going to stick a needle in my eye!!” and the phone book slipped off my lap. I grabbed it, and the page opened to acupuncture!!! The ad said “Acupuncture for Depression/Anxiety Relief”
Wow– huh?
So yeah- TRY IT!!!!
